Florida 8-Hour Traffic School Online

Florida Intermediate Driver Improvement

Man in car who will be taking Intermediate Driver Improvement course

Intermediate Driver Improvement, or IDI, is another name for the 8-hour Florida traffic school course.

This course is an extended version of the standard 4-hour Basic Driver Improvement course that is taken by drivers for a traffic citation. IDI can be taken by any driver who has been ordered to attend an 8-hour course by a Florida court or judge, or who has elected to attend such a course.

Most commonly, a driver would need to attend an Intermediate Driver Improvement course if he or she has attended a 4-hour BDI course for a ticket, then received another ticket within 12 months. Some counties will allow a driver to take the longer 8-hour course to dismiss the points from the second ticket, since the driver is prohibited by law from attending another 4-hour BDI course for ticket dismissal.

Intermediate Driver Improvement is Available Online

While you can take the IDI class with a classroom-based traffic school, many people prefer to take the course online. The online course has the following convenient features:

  • Do the Class on Your Schedule – If you like, you can finish all eight hours at once, but if you prefer to break your studying up into smaller sessions, you can do that too. Many people complete the online course during lunch break at work or at home a few sections at a time.
  • Easy Interactive Format – The course is simple to navigate and uses interactive elements such as Flash animations and quizzes to keep your mind stimulated.
  • Clear, Simple Language – All of our online traffic school courses are written in plain simple language, not copied from the driver's handbook.
  • Convenient Certificate Delivery – In a hurry? Get your certificate the next day. We offer reasonable express shipment to any destination.

IDI Is Not the Same as Aggressive Driving

In Florida, a person can be ordered to two different types of 8-hour course. Most people are ordered to attend the 8-hour Intermediate Driver Improvement course. However, sometimes drivers are ordered to attend an 8-hour Aggressive Driving Course.

The online 8-hour course that we offer on this site is the regular IDI course, NOT the aggressive driving course. Florida courts will NOT accept an IDI certificate if you have been ordered to attend an aggressive driving course.

If you are not sure which course you need, check the administrative order you received from the court, or call the clerk of the court that ordered you to attend an 8-hour course.
