Florida Aggressive Driving Course

Angry Florida driver who will need to complete an aggressive driving course

Florida's 8-hour Aggressive Driving Course is only offered in the classroom at the present time. If you have been ordered to attend an aggressive driving course, you will need to locate a traffic school in your area that offers this course.

You can click here for a list of Florida classroom traffic schools. Select "aggressive driving" to locate a school in your area that offers this course, or call 1-800-222-9199.

You might find other websites advertising an online aggressive driving course, but Florida courts will not accept a certificate from an online aggressive driving course.

Can I Take an IDI Course Instead of Aggressive Driving?

No. If you have been ordered to attend an 8-hour aggressive driving course, you will have to attend that course. You cannot choose an online or classroom IDI course.

Why Have I Been Ordered to Attend an Aggressive Driving Course?

For several years, the State of Florida has been tracking incidents of aggressive driving. When a law enforcement officer observes a driver committing two or more moving violations at the same time, he or she notes this on the Uniform Traffic Citation by checking an "aggressive driving" box.

An example of this would be when a driver is observed speeding and following too closely, or speeding and making illegal lane changes. Don't look surprised, we're sure you've seen this on the highway!

Individuals who appear in court might or might not be ordered to attend an aggressive driving course. The traffic court judge reviews their case, evaluates the severity of their offenses, and makes a determination as to whether an aggressive driving course is warranted.

If you have been ordered to attend an aggressive driving course, you will have received an administrative order from the court indicating that this is the type of course you need. Again, you cannot attend an 8-hour IDI course instead of aggressive driving

If you would are not sure which type of course you need or you can't locate an aggressive driving course that's close to you, call DTA at 1-800-222-9199.
