Texas Defensive Driving
Texas defensive driving is a course taken by hundreds
of thousands of drivers each year. The Texas defensive
driving course (also sometimes called a driver safety
course / Texas traffic ticket course / Texas traffic
school) can be used for either of the following reasons:
Insurance Discount
If you want to lower your auto insurance premiums, consider
taking DTA's Texas Education Agency approved 6-hour
Texas defensive driving course. Not only will you learn
valuable safe driving strategies and techniques, you
will also be eligible to receive a 10% automobile insurance
discount. (Most insurance carriers will give a discount
for the Texas defensive driving course, but some do
not. For this reason, we recommend that you contact
your insurer prior to signing up for the course.)
Texas Traffic Ticket Dismissal
The Texas defensive driving course is also applicable
to reduce the impact of demerit points on your driving
record. Students successfully completing the Texas defensive
driving course will receive two certificates of completion.
One is for ticket dismissal and the other is for auto
insurance discount purposes. Auto insurance discounts
and demerit point reduction vary by company / state
and are not guaranteed.
