DADAP
DADAP stands for Drug and Alcohol Driving Awareness
Program. DADAP is targeted at drivers in the age range
of 16-24 and teaches students to avoid the pitfalls
of driving after using drugs or drinking alcohol. Basic
information about alcohol and driving is supplemented
with DTA's unique "PAC" concept, which helps
students understand and identify the ways in which attitude
contributes to problem driving behaviors.
Driver Training Associates' DADAP course was the first
such course approved by the Texas Education Agency,
and since approval our course has been taken by thousands
of Texas drivers for insurance discounts and court referrals.
Taking the DADAP Course for an Insurance
Discount
Texas law (76[R] HB 3757) authorizes a 5% automobile
insurance discount for any Texas driver who completes
the DADAP course. Furthermore, a Texas driver who completes
a 32-hour Driver's Education Course or a 6-hour Driving
Safety Course is eligible for a 10% automobile insurance
discount, plus an additional 5% discount if he or she
completes a DADAP course. This amounts to a total insurance
discount of 15%! Drivers who wish to obtain these discounts
should first confirm their eligibility by contacting
their automobile insurer.
Taking the DADAP Course to Fulfill a Court Requirement
The DADAP course is also required by certain courts
when an individual has been convicted of an alcohol
and / or traffic related offense. Texas law authorizes
attendance of a TEA approved DADAP course for satisfaction
of several different types of offenses.
