New York Defensive Driving
DTA offers New York defensive driving courses that can
be used to keep points off your license for a traffic
citation and to receive an insurance discount. Keeping
your license free of points is important because too
many points can result in license suspension or revocation.
Taking a New York defensive driving course can prevent
this from happening.
In New York, the defensive driving course sometimes
goes by other names, such as New York traffic school
or New York traffic ticket course. DTA's 6-hour New
York defensive driving course has been approved by the
New York DMV as part of their Point Insurance Reduction
Program (PIRP). Since DTA was one of the first pirp
course providers, millions of New York drivers have
taken our course over the years.
New York Defensive Driving for Court Ordered Attendance
You can attend the New York defensive driving course
if you have been ordered to attend by a New York judge
or court. The course can also be taken to keep up to
four New York traffic ticket points from being assessed
onto your New York driver license.
New York Defensive Driving for Insurance Discount
If you are the principal operator of a motor vehicle
and you complete New York defensive driving, you will
receive a minimum 10% insurance discount applied to
the base rate of your automobile and /or motorcycle
liability and collision insurance premiums each year
for three years. Many families who reside in New York
attend the New York defensive driving class together
to obtain a substantial discount on their car insurance.
How Does New York Defensive Driving Get Reported?
DTA will report your New York Defensive Driving course
completion within 10 weeks after you complete the course.
A notice will then be entered on your driving record,
and the DMV computer will automatically reduce your
active point total by up to four points.
