The Introduction to the U.S. Transportation System course
was developed to address the specific needs of the growing
immigrant populations throughout the United States.
In most cases, the immigrant possesses the knowledge
to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with the requirements
of the jurisdiction in which he or she was licensed.
Historically, most driver education programs for the
immigrant driver were geared toward comprehensive behind-the-wheel
training, along with a classroom component that was
designed for use in the public school sector. We at
DTA recognize that this type of education requires a
significant investment of time and money in a process
that can be repetitive and unnecessary.
